The hippest hotel for a weekend in Vienna: Ruby Marie

**Ruby Marie sponsored a part of our hotel accommodation

My final trip for last year was a long weekend in Vienna with a friend, trying out Ruby Marie hotel – I believe this was the only actual holiday for me last year, so no more tips for the city this time. I took such an honest blogcation that I didn’t even take any photos while also my camera was resting in the suitcase. However, Ruby Marie Hotel Vienna was kind enough to arrange our stay as a blog cooperation.RUBY currently has open hotels in Vienna and Munich. During the next years they are also going to open new houses in Düsseldorf, Frankfurt and Hamburg.

Automated check-in and our Wow Room

Ruby Hotel is targeted for a youthful and trend-conscious traveller looking for a stay with a reasonable price and excellent location, without forgetting quality. After a lift takes you to the front lobby, also hosting a café and a restaurant, from the street level, you can check in with a self-service machine. The floors are styled quite dark but with small, fun details everywhere. The type of the clientele proved to be tricky to define in the end, as there were all sorts of people at breakfast, from young weekend travellers to retired couples and oh-so- credible businessmen. It seems Ruby Marie is really a hotel for everyone after all.The room we got was a ‘Wow Room’ which is the second biggest on offer. I’d have hoped more décor in such a large room but otherwise it was great for two of us. However, I have to mention that the bed provided a great panorama-view into our glass cubicle of a shower which can be slightly awkward when you’re travelling with a friend, haha. There are no shower curtains so it just calls for a showtime. The other room categories were Nest, Cosy, Lovely and Loft. All the little details made the room super sweet!

Yoga room and a movie theatre

Ruby Marie doesn’t have the usual hotel facilities, such as the likes of pool or gym but instead they offer a small yoga room, a library and a working space, which only makes it extra special in a good and a fresh way. The yoga room is open around the clock, so you can have your meditating moment before starting the busy day. The hotel boasts their own movie theatre with showings of newer blockbusters and classics every evening. This seemed like such a sweet idea and it would’ve been great to have the time to try it out one night!Additionally, the hotel has very hipster-friendly working spaces and a cosy little library.

Ruby Marie Bar & Café

The most visually attractive part of the hotel was Ruby Marie Bar & Café that welcomes also people not staying at the hotel. Two of my local friends stopped by for drinks and noted that it’s indeed a well-hidden secret but one of the trendiest places in town! The hotel breakfast was served at Ruby Marie and even though the selection was not huge, it was one of the best hotel breakfasts that I’ve ever had in Europe. Everything served was organic (except for the croissants, but they were still yummy as ever) and there were lots of vegan options as well.In the afternoon, the café is converted into a bar, serving the absolute best Espresso Martinis in Vienna and other tasty cocktails too.
